holidays over, for now

Today was the last day of vacation. I spent two weeks off where I did only what goes through my head.

today, to close with dignity the holidays, I went by boat on Lake Maggiore.

HDCP with the Mac Mini

The logical conclusion, in my experience these days is that someone took to write code specifically to recognize the animations in the presence of a non-HDCP signal.
If the monitor systematically refused to view any non-HDCP signal, I could not see anything, but do so only on certain occasions.
From a commercial perspective, however, would be worse: customers not buy the monitor in its entirety, so instead they are more likely to accept a compromise.
fact I knew this kind of limitations (absent signal completely connected with the Mini DVI to entry, no problem with the VGA cable) so I went with the Mini to the supermarket to test the monitor before purchasing, and it seemed to work.

The monitor is still spectacular. Mini is connected to the impressive image quality and the laptop connected via VGA input allows you to view HD movies with a realism never seen (at least to me :-)).

Lij is the collection of recordings that led to the publication of the famous "Made in Japan", in my opinion the best live history. Lij is interesting because it gives a precise idea atmosphere of the three evenings Japanese, as the band played in different evenings and choices to include a version of a song rather than another. During the early evening, in fact, Richie Blackmore and Jon Lord sounds really bad is not very inspired. The whole, however, never fails: this is the great strength of the DP live.

For now I could only hear the first of three CDs. The audio edition is edited by Peter Mew, who has already remastered it seems to me almost all the material DP.
Unfortunately the quality is not at the incomparable edition on vinyl (or not remastered) but, unlike the re-release of "Made in Japan", Mew is not overplayed his hand and then the sound is more realistic and less "nasal". MIJ
know by heart, even in minute details for hours and was very fun to hear the same songs presented with small / large changes. The soundstage am always impressed, it feels a great concert, thanks to the kindness of the recovery.

I waited a long time to buy lij, a bit 'dubious by the fact that it did not seem important to a purchase. MIJ is still the best by far, but the cover of Lij is absolutely extraordinary.
